My 52 Project - Week 20

Week 20 - Peaceful

Remember how just last week I said something about a prompt being easier than I imagined it would be?  I'm taking a different tune this week.  Peaceful is NOT my favorite prompt!  That may be the case, because life is a little hectic around here.  Good hectic, but I don't think we often see it as peaceful.

It's not like I didn't try this week!  I meant to take a great picture of the Raleigh, NC LDS temple, as it is one place I can always find peace.  Even though I was there twice this week, I managed to be there without a camera every time.  When time began to run short, I took a picture of a sleeping child - FAIL.  I even took a couple shots of the driver seat of my car.  CONFESSION - I sometimes sit in the car in my garage after arriving home from somewhere else, just so I can have a moment to take a breath before I head into the house.

In the end, this is what I chose.  My home may not be serene, but I love looking at my house from across the street.  I always think, "I love my home."  I love it, because I love my family and my home is a safe place for us to be together.  A close second to the temple.

Week 19 - Curved Lines

I’m so glad Kesti chose this prompt!  I’ve made many interesting discoveries with this project.  Several prompts that I thought would be fairly easy were tougher than I thought.  Others – like this week – were quite the opposite.  I was worried about finding curved lines, but when I really started looking I spotted them any and every where!  Here is one of mine.

My intention wasn’t curved lines when I snapped this.  I was just checking out a new lens.  It wasn’t until I pulled pictures off the camera, that I noticed them here.

My 52 Project - Week 18

Week 18 - Spring

I love spring!  I love the weather.  I love the way it smells outside.  I love that the sun shines and the rains come and make everything grow - seemingly overnight here!  Here are a couple of spring photos.

I have to add Shannon's spring photo this week.  It embodies all things spring and makes me want to keep taking pictures so I can improve!

My 52 Project - Week 17

Week 17 - Food

You should know that I am an absolute FOODIE!  I love food.  I love trying new kinds of food.  Food is my social medium.  I have the hardest time befriending those with picky palates!  I don't know what to do when they don't want to try new food!  I'm not sure everyone else was sold on my food prompt, but they are stuck with it regardless.

I may have led you to believe I have some amazingly crazy gourmet plate to show you.  I have corn.

Kesti's week of food appears to have been a tad more exciting than our corn.  I'm thinking she may have had a birthday to help with this prompt.  I do love lime and cupcakes.  Bet these were delicious!

I know you all are still reeling from Richard's photo last week.  You must be on pins and needles, as you wait to see what he's done with the food prompt.

My 52 Project - Week 16

Week 16 - Vintage

This week's prompt was vintage.  I absolutely love all things vintage and couldn't wait to get to this assignment.  I've been doing this project with friends, but haven't been including their photos on my blog.  After seeing this week's images, I just HAD to post them here!

This is my li'l antique lantern.

I am in love with Kesti's vintage photo.  This isn't your run-of-the-mill blue or yellow plastic lantern.  Oh no it is NOT!  Wood with a crescent moon window.  She spotted this gem at the ball field.  I love how the fence in the background and the tree off to the side add dimension to her image.  Great job, Kesti!

I just finished reading "The Haunting of Hill House" this week.  It's a ghost story written in 1959.  Richard's picture could not have been more timely!  He's been terribly cryptic about the origins of this picture, which makes it all the more exciting in my opinion.

Take a deep breath and hold on to your hats.  Brace yourselves for a tickle up the spine!

My 52 Project - Week 15

Week 15 - Metal

Toward the beginning of the week, I wondered why we chose metal as a prompt when I live with a woodworker?!  Lucky for me, this woodworker is currently hooked on making knives.  He buys blades and adds wood handles.  When I say hooked, I actually mean addicted.  We have a ridiculous amount of metal knife blanks floating around this residence.  The knife pictures were a total and complete flop, which led me out to the shop.

As I looked around, I realized a wood shop is FULL of metal!  My favorite was the wood planes T got for Christmas.  My picture frame is almost complete ;)

Band saws are a must.

Table saws are always a little scary to me.  I wouldn't want this blade tearing through my hand!

Now this li'l gem has a great story behind it.  T had never, ever, ever welded before.  My uncle thought he might enjoy a little introduction.  I believe a couple fires had to be put out before T finished this work of art.

My 52 Project - Week 14

Week 14 - Happiness

I had plenty of ideas for the happiness prompt.  I tried pictures of the piano.  Pictures of kids jumping on the trampoline - too many kids at once evidently.  But in the end, spring was what I ended up going with.  All the Bradford Pear trees are in bloom here.  They really stand out next to all the other trees that are still in the beginning stages of bloom.  I just can't get enough of them!

Here are some trampoline goodies :)  Pure happiness on these faces!
