Bubbles

Everyone loves bubbles, right?  We had a little experience with them that made us smile yesterday.  Our sweet little Gracie hates church.  She pretty much hates being anywhere where there are too many people or there is too much going on.  She still can't handle nursery even though she'll be two in June, so we park it in whichever foyer happens to be the emptiest.  One of our speakers passed out during her talk yesterday, so the quiet foyer turned into a not so quiet foyer and that was the beginning of the end for Gracie - even the end of staying in the hallway.
We have a friend who is the nursery leader in another ward that meets in the same building.  Her sweet husband always goes to the nursery to help clean up and take all the nursery leader 'props' out to the car before they have sacrament meeting.  We usually cross paths in the foyer, since that's where we tend to be.  Well yesterday he happened to have a tube of bubbles in his stash.  After taking things to the car, he came back in with that tube of bubbles still in his hand.  It was one of the really long tubes that has the long bubble wand and makes really big bubbles.
Before we knew it, there were bubbles floating around the foyer.  Bubbles in the foyer on Sunday you think?  That thought would have quickly been removed had you been there.  If you had seen the look on Gracie's face that is.  Her eyes were huge and her mouth open with her pleasant shock at seeing bubbles floating at church.  She was smiling and laughing.  We were smiling.  After a few minutes there were a few other people watching and smiling.  I realized that the draw wasn't just the bubbles.  These people have never happened upon Gracie that she wasn't miserable, let alone finding her smiling and giggling at church.
We eventually ran out of bubbles, but for a few minutes that sweet baby was smiling and happy.  Thank-you, Matt, for seeing a way to help sweet, little Gracie smile.  I think I need to go buy a bubble machine.  Think it will make the early morning seminary kids smile that much at 6am?

  2. YES, go buy bubbles asap! They are the only thing that saved us with leaving Ethan in nursery too. Who knows maybe this is a start to get little Gracie into nursery! (got my fingers cross for you)
